Mr. Tan Kiat How is a Member of Parliament for the East Coast Group Representation Constituency (GRC). Kiat How spent close to 20 years in the public service prior to entering politics.
One of his more memorable assignments was to start the Pioneer Generation Office, now known as the Silver Generation Office. Under his watch, the Pioneer Generation Office mobilised 3,000 volunteers to reach out to almost 500,000 seniors within two years. As a computer engineer, Kiat How has a passion for using technology to enhance the lives of Singaporeans. He helped to develop the Intelligent Nation 2015 blueprint and drove the implementation of the nationwide fibre-to-the-home infrastructure. Kiat How subsequently took on leadership roles in the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and the Infocomm and Media Development Authority (IMDA) where he shaped the national cybersecurity masterplan and championed a more digital economy and society, including the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, rollout of 5G mobile networks and launch of the SG Digital Ambassadors Programme.
Kiat How plans to leverage his experience to help Singapore create and seize opportunities in a digital future, especially Singaporeans from more disadvantaged backgrounds. He is determined to ensure that no one is on the wrong side of the digital divide.
